Another Maxwell classic in his signature style got even fresher with the brilliant idea to include early readers into a process of collaborative writing of the book. For months Maxwell put the chapters of the yet-unfinished book to his blog and opened them for blogger discussion, additions, comments and ideas. Many of them got into book and many people graced their picture to the book cover in inside pages (my photo included :-) All of this is pretty clever way of getting the word about book out, but also to demonstrate the power of connections in communication, which happens to be the subject of the book.
Maxwell is the connector, no doubt about it. A few weeks ago I have been sitting at a lecture he gave for about 80 leaders of his EQUIP organization and as I was sitting there, I realized that this man is true connector. I have read so many books from him and heard him speak on CDs, tapes, and so on; however, he is still very sharp in the way how he just not communicates but connect. He would really go around the room prior his speaking and personally connect with all who he does not know; he would create a great content and deliver it with strength and enthusiasm. So, he is really great about it and if you happen to be somewhere with him personally, you can agree on this.
The book tells how he does it and what exactly he does to connect. Many of his ideas are common knowledge, but Maxwell is fantastic in the way how to present the ideas. And he is much disciplined in the way how he uses his connection strategy. As such, the book is a practical wisdom from an expert on people connection and connective communication. Five of five from me. Definitely. Mr. Maxwell, I am ready for a next book!
